You Can’t Make This St*ry Up!

This project is the brainchild of our Book Coach, Amanda Johnson, and took two years of intense work to complete. When Amanda asked me to be a part of this endeavor I said yes because I immediately saw the value of creating such a powerful resource.

It’s indeed an honor to participate with a cohort of 19 writers, messengers, and change agents who collaborated to tell the stories behind their stories. Good intentions are routinely met with challenges that must be overcome. These obstacles are the stories behind the stories and are what is illuminated in this book. These courageous colleagues pull back the curtain and let you see what they faced and how they navigated their way to success.  With diverse backgrounds and a broad range of generational experiences, we came together to demonstrate what is possible for everyone willing and courageous enough to encounter themselves.

It sometimes seems impossible to tell them apart, but don’t be dismayed, there are vast differences between excuses and reasons. 

NO, KIDDING!

We often make excuses when we can’t make sense of what is going on. “Everything happens for a reason” is useless rhetoric if we can’t know the reason. I have wiped the sweat from my brow on many occasions, and I have often shuffled the powerful emotions in my gut in an attempt to distinguish fact from fiction. We should not kid ourselves. Reality is more potent than make-believe could ever be. And we don’t need to be afraid of what sets us free.

The tug on our hearts for a better life experience speaks loudly in a whisper. 

Human connection is the spark of divinity. The desire to live in peace, wholeness, and fulfillment is at the core of exploration. What we’re looking for is within and all external observation sends us back to ourselves. We have been given the keys to the castle; our domain and place of purpose. It falls to each of us to flow in our potential.

The danger lies in becoming acceptant of common and familiar things: making the mundane seem inevitable.

It would be difficult to deny the bias separation, divisive language, and trending polarization that permeates the current landscape, but we can do better. I can do better because excellence is the highest form of affirmation. Excellence is calling each of us to come and play.

Life is messy, and sorting it out can be even messier. But remember this: it’s never about what happens– it’s always about what you do with what happens. Your life matters, your family matters, and your life’s work matters. But, it can never matter more to anyone than it does to you!

This book isn’t designed to tell you how great we are or how far we have come, but rather, it stands as an invitation for you to accept your own mastery. Significance is found in the resolution of challenges and conflicts, and nothing empowers you more than resolving inner opposition and reaching personal disentanglement. If you are a creative looking for a platform for expression or you’re someone who wants to quietly live a rich, rewarding, and fulfilling life, this book has the ability to propel you forward.
